For the first time in Sri Lanka, the DJ Academy is announcing an awesome opportunity for all DJs, producers and bedroom DJs to showcase their musical talents and mixing ability.
This is DJ Academy’s very first DJ Mix-Tape competition! Here’s how it works, the rules are very simple!
DJ MIX-TAPE Competition details
1. Compose a 30 minute mix (between 25-35min)
2. Genre and styles can be anything you like or what you are comfortable working with.
3. There will be two categories;
• Less than 116 BPM
• More than 116 BPM
4. The mix should be done using CD decks, turntables or combination of both.
5. If you are using software (Ableton, Acid or others) you must specify this in your application.
6. The Mix-Tape will be judged according to the track selection, mixing ability, use of effects/tricks, and over-all progression.
7. Track names must be included, as well as the total length of the mix.
To Register; Call 0773853380 or send an email with your Name, Address, Phone no, Date of Birth and Nationality to – info@thedjacademy.net you will then receive an email confirming your registration together with more details of the competition.
Sending in your Entries
1. Drops off or register post your Mix-Tape (including the filled out registration form) to; The DJ Academy, No. 24 Averihena Road, Polhengoda, Colombo 5
2. You could also upload you Mix-Tape to any media hosting website (mediafire, divshare, slingfile or others) and email a link to info@thedjacademy.net (be sure to include your name, address, phone no, email and date of birth in the body of the email)
DJ MIX-TAPE Competition – Prizes
The winner of each category will receive a Remixing package complete with a Behringer studio mixer, powered monitors, Senheizer headphones, Professional Remixing software and a copy of Erik Hawkins book, “A complete guide to Remixing”
DJ MIX-TAPE Competition – Conditions
• This competition is only opened to residents of Sri Lanka.
• Participants can submit only ONE mixed tape.
• The submission cut-off date is July 31st 2009.
• The winners will be notified via email or phone
• The winner will be announced on the 15th of August 2009
• The winner will have to perform the Mix live in the presence of the judge’s in order to be eligible for the prize. If the Mix was created on software the master file will need to be made available to the judges.
